Terms & Conditions

Please read all terms and conditions before you book an appointment. We know it's boring but it's important!

Occasionally, grooming can expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current one. This can occur during or after grooming. Please ensure that you list medical conditions on the consent form. All medical expenses for veterinary care will be covered by the pet's owner upon signing the agreement. If your dog suffers from any skin conditions which require a specific shampoo treatment, this must be provided by the owner. Medicated shampoo is available upon request. I only use high quality products when grooming therefore preventing the risk of any negative skin reactions.

Health & Medical Problems

Although accidents are very rare, there is a risk when dealing with animals.  Grooming equipment is sharp, and although I use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, quicking of nails, etc. In most cases this can happen when an animal is wiggling or moving around.  Your pet’s safety and comfort is my number one priority. In the event an accident does occur, you will be notified immediately. Palmer's Pet Services is covered by insurance from Cliverton.

Accidents

Palmer’s Mobile Salon strives to be a flea-free salon.  If your dog has any fleas they will be given a flea bath at your expense of £10. This fee covers the cost of the treatment as well as fumigation of the van afterwards. Please keep up to date with preventative treatment.

If you suspect your dog may have fleas, please let me know as i will try to book your appointment for the last of the day to prevent further infestation to other customers. Ticks will be removed free of charge and you will be notified if any are found. 
 

**Please note that we do not deal with severe infestations. If you book an appointment with out notifying us about an infestation, your appointment will be cancelled upon discovery of the fleas and the full amount for the groom will be recovered plus £10 for fumigation costs.

Fleas & Ticks

Animals with severely matted coats require extra attention. Matts in an animal’s coat grow tight, and can ultimately damage and tear the animal's skin, which provides a breeding ground for parasite infestations. Palmer’s Pet Services will not cause serious or undue stress to your pet by dematting. Mats can be very difficult to remove, and may require the pet to be shaved. Removing a heavily matted coat can cause nicks, cuts or abrasions due to skin growths trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mould, fungus or bacteria to grow, producing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. After-effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to regrow. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioural changes. Prevention is the best defence by scheduling regular grooming appointments, every 4-6 weeks.

If your pet needs to be shaved to remove matting, by signing the form you acknowledge that you agree to this procedure, and any risk. There will be an additional charge for this process: it is time consuming, and causes extra wear and tear on grooming equipment.

Matted Dogs

Palmer’s Pet Services has the right to refuse any services at any time. 

In the event that your pet is too stressed or becomes dangerous to groom, I have the right to refuse, stop, or cancel grooming services at any time before, during, or after grooming and you will be charged a grooming fee (for what was done up until that point). 

If your dog has displayed any signs of aggression in the past you must notify me prior to the groom to allow me to work safetly

Refusal Of Services

Muzzling does not harm your pet and protects both the pet and the groomer. In some cases, muzzling may even calm a stressed animal, allowing the grooming process to continue. If your pet still acts in a way that is dangerous, Palmer’s Pet Services has the right to stop grooming services at any time and a service fee will be collected. We do not muzzle unless your pet gives us a reason to. Other methods are used to calm your pet, muzzling is a last resort.

Neck nooses are used as standard practice to prevent dogs from jumping off of high tables/bath and causing injury. 

Use of belly straps may be used if necessary to keep your dog standing still.

All Restraints are ethical and are used to keep your dog and myself safe.

Muzzles & Restraints

For the safety of the animals being groomed, as well as my own safety, it is asked that you do not interrupt during grooming. Every effort will be made to ensure your pet is groomed as safely as possible, but an excited pet can be dangerous to continue to work on.  After handing your dog over, please do not stop back in the salon. If you have any questions during grooming please call me.

During The Groom

An appropriate parking space must be provided for your appointment. This space must be legal and not obstructive to other people. Please let me know if there is no parking available and arrangements can be made for you to bring the dog to me instead. Paid parking areas which require a ticket, must be paid for by the customer. Please note that I also need to plug into an electricity source, extension cables are provided at 20M long, please ensure that this will reach.

Parking

Because appointments are booked in advance, cancellations can leave an empty block in the schedule that could have otherwise been used by another customer. I ask that any cancellations are made at least 24 business hours in advance. Cancellations made with less than 24hrs notice will be charged at 50% of the price of the groom quoted to you. If I arrive at your appointment and you are not home, you will be charged the full price of the groom quoted to you.

Cancellations

Your satisfaction is important to me. If you are unhappy for any reason, and would like something adjusted, I will be happy to make any adjustments whilst I'm still on site. Once I leave, any return visits will be treated as a new appointment and client will be charged a grooming fee or some kind.

Palmer’s Pet Services may take photographs or videos of your dog for client file and for company website and social media. All photos taken are the property of Palmer’s Pet Services.

Photographs

Our teeth maintenance service is exactly that - a teeth maintenance service. It is suitable for dogs with none, mild to moderate tartar build up. It can help remove plaque, tartar and freshen breath. The operator is NOT a veterinarian and teeth maintenance is NOT a substitute for veterinary treatment where a dog requires dental work beyond cleaning.

Owners should be aware of the following - consent to the use of a tooth de-scaler on my dogs teeth in a kind and gentle manner; to remove any loose tartar, plaque or stains from the teeth.

Teeth cleaning will be stopped if any loose teeth are suspected, If your dog objects and becomes stressed or aggressive. or any obvious abnormalities are visible or suspected in the mouth such as: A foreign body embedded in the mouth, Oral warts, Oral Injuries or Tumours.

There may be some minor bleeding of the gums during and after teeth cleaning as the tartar and the plaque is removed. If the session has to stop for any health or behaviour reasons payment will still need to be made.

I am aware that the teeth cleaning service is not a substitute for a veterinary inspection and Palmer's Pet Services is not qualified to diagnose abnormalities or disease.
